Choral Opportunities

October 15, 2009                       Central Manitoba Choral Workshop (grade 9-12)

A one-day workshop in Manitou, MB, wherein choristers rehearse all day long.  It is followed by an evening concert, where the different age groups will perform their songs.  A highlight at the concert is a performance by the Central Manitoba Youth Choir, which includes Carman Collegiate’s Katie Vankoughnet, Emily Rempel, Erica Wiebe, Garth Aubin and Ceone Dyck.  Students will need to bring a bag lunch and/or money and will need money for supper, unless they choose to billet for supper.  Transportation TBA and departure time TBA.

October 16, 2009                       Central Manitoba Choral Workshop (grade 7-8)

A one-day workshop in Carman, MB, wherein choristers rehearse all day long.  It is followed by an afternoon concert, where the different age groups will perform their songs.  A highlight at the concert is a performance by the Central Manitoba Youth Choir, which includes Carman Collegiate’s Katie Vankoughnet, Emily Rempel, Erica Wiebe, Garth Aubin and Ceone Dyck.  Students will need to bring a bag lunch.

February 2009 (date tba)            Provincial Honor Choir

Students spend a wonderful weekend rehearsing for a grand finale concert at the end of the weekend.  Deadline for application is in November (date tba) and auditions take place sometime in December (you will be contacted.)  Application forms will be available from Mrs. Metcalf.

February 2009 (date tba)            Choral Jazz Workshop

Forms will be available from Mrs. Metcalf

October, 2010                           Central Manitoba Youth Choir

Auditions take place in May. (date tba)  Registration forms will be available from Mrs. Metcalf. (please check back for registration deadline)  This includes 2 weekend-long camps at which intensive rehearsals take place, and a 4-day weekend, wherein the CMYC performs at various locations across southern Manitoba.  This is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to expand their choral experiences.
